Lets ensure the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) is fit for purpose

Reforms of the Residential Tenancies Act

Press Release:

" Tenants Protection Association (Christchurch) Inc. (TPA) welcomes yesterdays announcement of a review of the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) by the Government.

Renting in New Zealand is an important form of tenure and we need to keep checking that the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) is fit for purpose for the needs of Tenants and Landlords. TPA has been calling for a review for some time in order that the RTA can be thoroughly reviewed.

More people than ever are renting. Creating a stable home for themselves and their family requires security of tenure, quality housing, and clear rules and obligations that all parties honour.

Tenants are tired of worrying about having to move house when they have done no wrong. They're tired of having to be the one's that have to hold their Landlords to account.

TPA looks forward to submitting on the Review and bringing the concerns and hopes of Tenants to the table."
