If you are leaving or have left your rental property as a result of the February Earthquake

1) let your landlord know that you are not there   2) leave them your contact details.   If you cannot contact your landlord then leave your contact details somewhere in the house that is easy to find e.g. the kitchen table.  This way your landlord or any other authorities that may need to come inside the property know where you are and how to contact you.  You must contact your landlord, whether you are leaving for a few days, weeks or intend to leave permanently.

It is important to get professional advice about your rights and responsiblities relating to questions about your renting situation, for example questions about rent, notice and planning your next steps.  Call TPA on (03) 379 2297 or Department of Building and Housing on 0800 836 263.
